Important National Grid Rate Update
National Grid recently announced the Basic Service residential rate for the winter season, November 2022 – April 2023. For the average Melrose household using 735 kilowatt-hours (kWh) per month, participants in our city’s Melrose Community Power (MCP) Program will result in over $164 per month in savings during this period. Future savings cannot be guaranteed because National Grid rates beyond April 2023 are unknown.
Please enter your monthly usage (kWh) which can be found on your utility bill and enter it into the green box in the upper right-hand corner below. The calculator below is using the proposed National Grid Basic Service rate, in addition to the proposed small business rate and will tabulate your supply charges for the month for each Melrose Community Power product option in comparison to National Grid’s Basic Service.

Disclaimer: A goal of Melrose Community Power is to produce savings for customers. Savings, however, cannot be guaranteed compared to your utility’s basic service rate which changes every six months for Residential and Small Business customers, and every three months for Large Business/Industrial customers. The Melrose Community Power program seeks to provide price stability and average savings over the duration of the program, but because future basic service rates are not known, there is no guarantee of savings. Program prices could increase as a result of a change in law that results in a direct, material increase in costs during the term of the electricity supply agreement.
Beware of door-to-door sales, mail and calls from third-party suppliers. Melrose Community Power is the only program offered by the City of Melrose. See Attorney General’s warning here.
